Skeletons: Animals Unveiled! is a family-owned museum and one of only two skeleton museums in America. The museum features the inner framework of hundreds of animals from all over the world. The owner’s collection has been growing over the last 25 years. During that time he was able to add some of the rarest species in the world to his unique assembly. The owner, Jay, realized that he wanted to share his passion with everyone! Jay and his family opened their first museum in Oklahoma. After the great success they quickly started working on adding an Orlando location.
We were asked to create a one-of-a-kind sign to compliment his one-of-a-kind museum. Our creative team put their heads together and came up with a great concept that fit Jay’s requirements. We routed layers out of mold board and created a 3-D mold. After the mold was assembled it went through a process called thermoforming. A plastic sheet was heated to optimal forming temperature and using vacuum and pressure is formed into a 3-D part. After the 3-D face was complete it was carefully cut out and painted. We manufactured an aluminum background so we could mount the skeleton and push-thru letters. The last step was to add halo lighting behind the background. After the design and manufacturing process was complete we were ready to share it with Jay. The end result was 100% custom and a perfect fit for the focal wall at the museum’s gift shop.
